Back to our jobs

Recoverer Gert speaks out: “You get the chance to leave your personal mark.”

Gert Biermans has had a long journey across various roles. He was involved in the launch of VT Logistics and was one of our first operators, our first recoverers. With a wealth of experience, he talks about his job and its impact on tomorrow.

Gert: “I was there when VT Logistics started. When I was asked to help with the project, I didn’t hesitate. Setting up a new production line is always special. I got to help build the line from scratch and worked closely with various technicians to ensure the process ran smoothly. It was a real challenge, and I learned a lot during that time.”

“As an operator, it’s your responsibility to keep the line operational and resolve any issues as quickly as possible. Our goal is to recover all bottles as efficiently as possible so they can be reused. Today, I am still the most experienced operator, and I enjoy passing on my knowledge as much as I can. We recently started working in shifts, and the plan for me is  to become the point of contact during a shift.”

One big family of recoverers

“At VT Logistics, we are one big family, and that’s what makes working here so enjoyable. We’ve grown into quite a sizeable team, but the strong bond between colleagues is still there. Moreover, everyone is given the opportunity to leave their personal mark and do their work in their own way, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the processes, of course. But for that to work, it’s essential that everyone takes responsibility and shows initiative, including new colleagues.”
